  • What is liposomal technology?

    A liposome is a microscopic sphere composed of phospholipids—the same fatty molecules that form the membrane of every cell in the human body. When these phospholipids are dispersed in water under the right conditions, they spontaneously fold into a double layer and enclose an aqueous core. Nutrients dissolved in that core are physically encased by the phospholipid shell.

  • When does the encapsulation take place?

    In a liposomal formulation, the nutrient is encapsulated in a phospholipid vesicle during production — even before ingestion. Liposomal technology is a delivery format — a way to package a nutrient — and not a change to the nutrient itself. The particle size and stability of the vesicles are controlled during production using techniques such as microfluidization or high-pressure homogenization.
