  • What is liposomal technology?

    A liposome is a microscopic sphere made up of phospholipids — the same fat-like molecules that form the membrane of every cell in the human body. When these phospholipids are dispersed in water under the right conditions, they spontaneously fold into a double layer and enclose an aqueous core. Nutrients dissolved in that core are physically encapsulated by the phospholipid shell.

  • When does the encapsulation take place?

    With a liposomal formulation, the nutrient is encapsulated in a phospholipid vesicle during production — even before ingestion. Liposomal technology is a delivery format — a way to package a nutrient — and not a change to the nutrient itself. The particle size and stability of the vesicles are controlled during production using techniques such as microfluidization or high-pressure homogenization.

Selenium

What it is: An essential trace element that supports the immune system, is vital for the production of thyroid hormones, contributes to the protection of cells against oxidative damage, and is good for hair and nails.

Why we use it: We use selenium in the form of sodium selenite, a common mineral form. Each sachet contains 56 µg of selenium, or 102% of the reference intake, as part of the liposomal formula.

Vitamin C (Sodium L-Ascorbate)

What it is: Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that supports the immune system, is important for the formation of collagen which is essential for bones, supports the maintenance of strong blood vessel walls, helps strengthen the skin (from the inside out), plays a role in the building of cartilage, and is important for the gums and for strong teeth.

Why we use it: We use vitamin C in the form of sodium L-ascorbate, which is gentle on the stomach. Each sachet contains 300 mg of vitamin C, or 375% of the reference intake.
